Sarasota Florida's got an Elf! An Elf? That's right! An honest to goodness, straight from Santa's North Pole, authentic Elf! This is great. Finally amidist all the horrible happenings lately like senseless murders, hostage takings, and robberies, there's something purely good to write a crappy humor blog about....
I found the Sarasota Elf on Facebook a few days back, shamelessly promoting the Sarasota area. After further investigating Santa's little helper, I'm pretty sure he's linked to a website called 'This Week In Sarasota' http://www.thisweekinsarasota.com/index.cfm . One can not only find the Elf, but many a bargin, restaurant, event, ect. there. But what really got my attention was the Sarasota Elf, or his videos to be exact. His videos are works in progress, the first 2 tell of how he came to Sarasota and his deciding to stay, and more videos of the Sarasota Elf's adventures in our area are yet to come. I gotta say, I loved video 2, with the Elf relaxing with a cold brew, smoking a stoogie. But hey, that's what vacations are for! I hope the Elf will wander into one of my favorite watering holes. I'd love to sit with the little guy and throw back a few! But I doubt he'll show up in the dives I frequent. With good reason too. I wouldn't want any large bar slugger I know drunkenly questioning our Elf about a Red Rider BB Gun he never got! Our Elf could probably take care of himself, but I'd get beat-up! So, I'll have to follow TWIS or Facebook to see where our Elf might be. A reasonable place perhaps to sit and drink with my new merry friend.
If you don't get out much yourself, you can catch the Sarasota Elf on our favorite local news source, ABC 7, every Thursday on the noon news. I wish our new local Elf all the best. I really don't know of the video's of him yet to come, but with the expierence I've seen with Elves in other Holiday shows, I know that they can face adversity, like the Elf in Rudolph (although he did finally become a dentist). I just hope our cheerful Sarasota Elf don't run into the likes of something like The Manasota Grinch! 11/20/09
Surveys have shown that many are constantly searching online for "classic car auction in Los Angeles" or "Los Angeles classic auto auction". The beauty and charm of antique vehicles is hardly a passing fad. After all, some car makes and models are reminisces of a colorful automobile history.
Typically, at a classic car auction in Los Angeles, you will be able to feast your eyes on models like the 1974 VW Ghia Coupe, antique Chevrolet cars, 1959 Cadillac, Vintage Volkswagen Beetle, Pickup or Camper and even the Boss Mustang and Lincoln Continental. Not to forget the 1963 Falcon Futura convertible. Some of these are put on auction by private collectors, while others are forced sell due to bank repossession or foreclosures.
Where to find such LA classic car auctions?
Dig into the newspapers and online news site like the Los Angeles Times, Daily News Los Angeles and more. A quick check at the LA Avenue homepage will give you a long list of newspapers you can check out. The classified ads or buy/sell corner are where you should be searching.
Check out with your local bank branches and find out if they are holding an auction for foreclosed/repossessed vehicles. Financial lenders are also great places to check out.
The third way, arguably the best method is to use online auction search engines. These car auction databases hold the information of all the existing classic car auctions, government auto auctions, and so on in America. From here, you will know exactly whether there is a classic car auction in Los Angeles. If there is, you may also get to see the car models available.
On top of that, you can always check and see if there are auctions taking place in neighboring cities and states. After all, you can always drive there to participate in the auctions. All it takes is a low one-off fee and you can use their services anytime. It is a time and money saver as you are one of the earliest to hear of an upcoming event. This helps you to plan your car search, hopping from one auction to another over a nice weekend.
More tips on getting an automobile from a Los Angeles classic car auction
Since many of these cars are decades old, their conditions should be of concern to you unless you just want to keep them in your private collection. People do so for investments but still, a vintage car that is working is worth more than a piece of scrap!
Ask a qualified mechanic to come with you to inspect the vehicle before bidding. Go early so that you can have all the time to scrutinize the antique cars. Remember to request for their VIN# numbers if they are available. Some are just too old to have that.
These are some really useful tips that will put you in a good position to buy a nice car home from a classic car auction in Los Angeles.

A US government car auction allows you to purchase vehicles at a fraction of the cost. These used cars are repossessed by the government because of certain reasons. These are mainly the result of criminal grounds, like when a particular property or asset is purchased using money obtained from illegal activities. Apart from that, the seized property could also originate from tax debts; the IRS can confiscate a person's property, car, or other personal belongings of value and sell them with the intent of satisfying the outstanding tax liability of the individual.
Where Do These Cars Come From?
These cars can come from anywhere. Apart from the ones mentioned above, these can include used cars that have served as government vehicles as well. This happens since the government also needs to sell their own vehicles after a certain time due to internal policies or financial constraints.
How Do I Find Information About This?
You can always check your local newspaper for schedules of these events near your area. Although more and more sites are offering online car auctions, it is still difficult to navigate through them or sift through all the results. There are however online databases that you can sign up in. Most of these would require a membership fee; one notable database offers a fee of $39.50 for a 2-year membership and $49.50 for a lifetime membership. Whether you choose to attend these occasions in person or via the Internet, government car auctions are no different from regular ones.
Is This Complicated? Will It Be Expensive?
Most people would say no. Generally, what happens when you get to the car auction is that you will be able to inspect the cars available for sale that day. One good thing about government car auctions is that they do not have a traditional profit motive for the event. Therefore, they typically sell the merchandise to the highest bidder in spite of the price they get in exchange; thus, the potential to save a lot is there. Also, be mindful of the details. Know what type of automobile you want and what you need. Make sure to check the vehicle thoroughly, check the VIN or other documents. If you get a chance, ask the event administrator if they have any information regarding the used cars mileage.
It is important to know what you want or what you are looking for when attending US government car auctions; be careful not to get way in over your head and end up regretting your purchase.

Kitchen Appliances have become inevitable parts of our lives, which are designed to make our lives more enjoyable and hassle-free. It also defines beauty of our living space. Most apartment kitchens are already supplied with stoves and refrigerators included. However, if you need a new stove, microwave, or refrigerator there are many types of such appliances that are good buys, you just need to know what brand, size, and type etc. that you need. Here are some ideas to get you started if you are looking for new stoves, refrigerators, microwaves or other kitchen appliances: 1. Refrigerators:
Refrigerators are essential kitchen appliances The most popular and convenient refrigerators are side-by-side as opposed to the actual fridge part being on the bottom and the freezer on top or vice versa. Water and ice dispensers on the outside of the door are a very nice touch that make water and, if you choose, ice water easily accessible. There are even refrigerators, such as ones GE has designed, that are shallower in depth than traditional model refrigerators, which making it much easier to seek and reach for things stored at the back of fridge. As you probably know, food can go bad way back there, usually because you never see it when you look around for something to eat. And of course, there are much smaller refrigerators that are not so much kitchen appliances as they are conveniences for the office, dorm rooms or recreational vehicles etc. These items are very handy in a lot of ways, and designed especially for the purposes I just mentioned. Virtually all kitchen appliance manufacturers offer such items. 2. The dishwasher:
Most dishwashers come with push button controls or simple to use dials in the front. Dishwashers in general are fairly accessible appliances, but sometimes you will want to do a little research on the reliability of such kitchen appliances before purchasing your dishwasher. Dishwashers are usually at least 34" high and will fit perfectly beneath a standard 36" high counter. 3. The stove: Of all kitchen appliances the stove is one of the most important. There are plenty of kitchen appliance manufacturers currently designing burners and ovens especially with different kinds of accessibility in mind. Knobs: Sometimes there are knobs or push-button controls in the front of the stove. This way the user does not ever have to reach across a hot burner while cooking. Ceramic cooktop units: Another great kind of stove is the type of stove or burners with flat surfaces. These kitchen appliances allow you to easily slide pots and pans from one area to another, and are incredibly easy to clean up after. 4. Ovens:
The way that the oven door opens is also very important. Many ovens have a door that pulls downward. This sort of door will provide a very convenient transitional shelf. On the other hand, some consumers prefer a door that swings to the left or to the right. This may seem to allow him or her better access to the oven racks inside. 5. Microwaves:
Microwaves are kitchen appliances that are safer and much less expensive than other kitchen appliances. They are easier to operate than conventional ovens especially because you set the cook time and the microwave immediately turns itself off. This is a great feature for the forgetful cook. Sure you can set a timer for your oven, but the oven stays hot and if you do not hear the dinger—supper may be burned, and you may even have to disconnect the smoke alarm. But with a microwave oven, the item you have heated up will just sit there, waiting for you to remember it. 6. Smaller conveniences: Other kinds of kitchen appliances are not necessary, but make for great accessories and can be incredibly useful in the kitchen. Without some of these smaller and less essential kitchen appliances, there are some things that you will not be able to make. Instant hot water dispensers:

Instant hot water dispensers can be a great convenience for those who need quick access for things like coffee or soup. However, it takes only a minute or two more to heat your water in the microwave. Accessories such as instant hot water dispensers are a fancy touch to add to your kitchen for extra convenience. There are many kitchen appliances to choose from that I have not mentioned here. Popular and smaller items such as blenders, coffee makers, espresso machines, mixers, egg boilers and more are great items to own, though not essential. Whatever kitchen appliances you choose to purchase for your kitchen, make sure they are in high quality condition and will be long lasting for your convenience.

Chinese style Learn how to get a beautiful and rich, exotic look in your home. Choose a Chinese interior design style, for the ultimate in color, pattern and opulence for your home. A fantastic style to consider... If you are interested in Asian Decorating styles, or oriental interior design, then take a look at this Chinese influenced look - for a really dramatic and unusual design scheme.
The term oriental decor refers to designs and schemes from the East (also know as 'The Far East'). This refers to countries like China, Japan, Thailand, orea and Vietnam, as well as other countries in the east. The main countries to provide the inspiration for oriental interior design schemes are China and Japan. The Chinese look is a vibrant look - filled with color and pattern. It is a fantastic look for people who want to bring a little bit of the exotic into their lives. It is an unusual look, but relaxing, cosy, and easy to live with. Walls and Color •Typical Chinese interior design colors are red and black. The red is a bright, rich primary red. •Also use other rich and bright colors, like blue, yellow or green.
•A little bit of gold decoration is a vital part of Chinese color and design. Your walls can be plain (but richly colored), or patterned with wallpaper. Try to choose a wallpaper pattern with an oriental inspiration - such as oriental paintting and calligraphy, framed art and so on.
As an alternative, if you feel your home is too small or dark for such bright colors, or if you are not massively into colors, but still want to get the oriental feel in your room, try a very pale and neutral background - and get the oriental feel with the furniture and accessories (more on that later..!) Furniture Ornate furniture is a very important part of Chinese interior design. Suitable furniture is typically Chinese - quality wood, with a very fine, glossy lacquer, in black, or varying shades of red. The furniture will have decorative carving, ornate inlays or very detailed and beautiful paintings, and fancy handles.
These are very striking statement pieces - so you probably don't want to dilute the effect, by filling your room with a jumble of different designs or colors. Choose one (or even several) statement furniture pieces in this typical Chinese oriental style. The rest of your furniture should be pretty low-key - ideally in a plain black, or dark wood. Accessories Accessories are the best place to really get an authentic Chinese oriental interior design look. Use Chinese paper lanterns for your lighting - these will give quite a soft, warming glow to your room - and a very relaxing atmosphere.
Look out for rich, opulent fabrics - such as richly embroidered silks, in Chinese designs.
Look for ornaments and fabrics with the following, typically Chinese motifs: animals and mystical beasts - monkeys, dragons and tigers, also beautiful flowers, birds and fish.
Try to include some beautiful Chinese ceramics and pottery in your oriental interior design scheme. Look for the above same designs and motifs on bowls, plates, pots, vases and ginger jars. Blue and white pottery is a very typical Chinese design style - so try to include some in your oriental design scheme. It is worthwhile scouring flea markets, antique stalls and especially eBay, for unique Chinese treasures... Take a look at this live feed from eBay. It is constantly updated. Just click on any product for further information, or to bid or buy. Hope you get some great bargains The Chinese oriental interior design style is a really beautiful and striking look for your home. It is actually quite easy to achieve, as well - it only takes a splash of authentic color, and a few of the correct accessories to get the right look. 'When you are a foreigner you can bring something of your own culture to the new country, This is good way for a foreigner to start a business . . . to bring your own culture. This is all typically Chinese.' We are sitting surrounded by a huge array of bowls, vases, plates and even china pig-shaped porcelain. I wanted to bring Chinese porcelain here,I wanted to bring the spirit of China to the people. I hope I have done that, yes?’ Judy has been in Finland since October 2006. She met her Finnish husband when she was working in Malaysia managing the production of Chinese textiles. Since June this year, however, she has been attempting to bring exquisite, hand-made Chinese porcelain to Oulu. ‘This is a traditional Chinese porcelain’ she points me to the most impressive pair of vase that they have on sale.
‘They are 1.8 metres tall, They are hand painted and the painting describes a pond with lotus flowers and carps.’ ‘Lotus Lover’ She then stands up and points me towards the calligraphy in the tall vase. ‘There is a Chinese poem here called “The Tale of a Lotus Lover”. It says . . .’ she quickly translates in her head, ‘The lotus lives in the dirty mud but it is still pure.’ The pair is on sale for 5000 euros and Judy and Wendy hope to sell them to a hotel. ‘I think that they would look very good in a hotel lobby,’ adds she. Though much of the porcelain is far cheaper and there are pots for around 25 euros as well. Porcelain, also called 'fine china', featuring its delicate texture, pleasing color, and refined sculpture, has been one of the earliest artworks introduced to the western world through the Silk Road. The earliest porcelain ware was found made of Kaolin in the Shang Dynasty (16th - 11th century BC), and possessed the common aspects of the smoothness and impervious quality of hard enamel, though pottery wares were more widely used among most of the ordinary people. Anyway it was the beginning of porcelain, which afterwards in the succeeding dynasties and due to its durability and luster, rapidly became a necessity of daily life, especially in the middle and upper classes. They were made in the form of all kinds of items, such as bowls, cups, tea sets, vases, jewel cases, incense burners, musical instruments and boxes for stationary and chess, as well as pillows for traditional doctors to use to feel one's pulse.
The development of porcelain in the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220) began to accelerate and before long the artworks were introduced westward. Celadon(like the color of jade) and black porcelain wares were the dominant types at that time. Styles of porcelain had formed and differed based on regions by then. The Yue Kiln in Zhejiang Province, which has enjoyed a good reputation for over 2,000 years up to now, produced delicate and hard celadon porcelain; while the De Kiln became the earliest kiln that baked black porcelain. During the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), a large number of porcelain wares were in daily use having been substituted for the ones made of gold, silver, jade and other materials. With export, Chinese patterns on these wares also took on more exotic appeal. The Yue and De kiln of Zhejiang Province had features that were the most popular ones, and another one, Xing kiln in Hebei Province was greatly prized for its white porcelain as 'white like snow'. Kilns baking porcelain for the royalty sprang up producing elegant and dainty works.
Stepping into the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), a variety of genres of porcelain appeared and it became a fashion that people showed great interest in purchasing and collecting certain wares suitable to their tastes. Ru, Ding, Ge, Jun and the official kilns had been the representatives of that age. Official kilns advocated concise patterns of decoration; Ru kiln in Hebei Province added treasured agate into glaze so that the color and texture appeared to be uniquely daintily creamy and could be compared with jade. Henan Province had two famous kilns named Jun and Ding kilns. Since the reign of Emperor Huizong who liked art appreciation, porcelain of Jun kiln was kept exclusively for the royal family and common people had no right to collect it no matter how much money they possessed. Since the artisans made their porcelain wares separately, there was no repetition among decorative patterns and colors. Thus this made each porcelain product more precious in its own right. Ding kiln boasted its white porcelain which has a texture as delicate as that of ivory with an adornment of black and purple glaze. Distinctive from the other four kilns which stressed color, this one was quite good at engraving and printing flower patterns. While the Ge Kiln produced porcelain articles with various grains and produced an amount of artworks greater than those of the other four. Well developed in the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368), the blue and white porcelain (Qinghua Ci), in the main stream of porcelain, was the stylish artistic ware in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and promoted this period to be the most prolific in the field of feudal art. First it painted on the basic body with brush natural cobalt which would be turned blue after being in the forge. Set off by the white glaze and covered by the other level of clear glaze, the blue flowers and other patterns showed their comely charm and were widely welcomed among both refined and popular tastes. With the diversity of cobalt, theme, and style of painting, the blue and white porcelains differed constantly, each being unique.
As we know, the features of porcelain lie in texture of basic body, color of glaze, decorative pattern, shape and style, while porcelain at that time had sublimed to be at the most elegant. The familiar rose porcelain was another highlight that appeared during the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1653 - 1722). The finished article appears more stereoscopic, colorful, gentle and clean. Nearly all the refined colored pigments were utilized like ancient purple, magenta, ochre, emerald, and so on. Through the development of 4,000 years, now it is still a brilliant art that ttracts many people's interest. Collect your favorite porcelain article and place it in your room to enjoy the pleasure of it. The Porcelain Capital, Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province which has been praised for thousands of ears, will be certain to satisfy your esthetic appetite.

Being the 'cheeky idiot' that I can be, I started a Facebook Group 2 weeks ago called Not-So-Concerned-Citizens Of SW Florida http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1162873874&ref=name#/group.php?gid=163771369729&ref=ts . Born out of boredom and unconcern, I was shocked that this group now boasts 39 members, 38 more than I thought it would. So now I almost feel obligated to post some sort of silly update. Here's my feeble attempt of some things not to be concerned about.
From my favorite local news source: Battle Over Off Shore Drilling... http://www.mysuncoast.com/Global/story.asp?S=11474158&nav=menu577_2 . Why no concern? Arn't they already drilling in the Gulf of Mexico already? No one wants to see an oil spill, but no one I know likes paying $3 a gallon for gas either Anyways, according to the Mayan callender, we're all doomed in 2012, which is way before any drilling would start if passed by law!
From my favorite local newspaper: Sarasota's Public Drinking Ban Is Back http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20091110/BREAKING/911109978/2416?Title=Sarasota-County-s-public-drinking-ban-is-back . Being as out of the loop as I am, I never new it left! If one looks hard enough, they'll see people of prominence drinking outdoors. But that's not who this laws for, we all know that. Just check out the Sheriff Office Arrest web site. Once again, nothing to get worked up about!
And finally, in the world of music, Steven Tyler is quitting Aerosmith. Now, being a life long Aerosmith fan from their origins, I almost got concerned! Hey, I became a 'Man' with my highschool sweetheart listening to Aerosmith's Rocks ( I still believe their first 5 albums were there best). So when I first heard the news, anyway I came to my senses and remembered that it's AEROSMITH! Through the drugs, booze, and women, this band's broken up and gotten back together more times than I can remember. Whew....
I don't know if I can be anymore unconcerned, so I'll leave the rest of the unbattle to the fellow members of the Not-So-Concerned-Citizens Of SW Florida. Maybe now you'd like to join????? 11/10/09

History: C# is a simple, modern, general-purpose, object-oriented programming language. Anders Hejlsberg is the chief architect for C#. C-Sharp has an object-oriented syntax that was derived from C++. The most recent version of the language is 3.0, and it was published in conjunction with the .NET Framework 3.5 In 2007. The next proposed variation, 4.0, is in development.
According to Anders Hejslberg, it was the problems in other major programming languages, like Java, Delphi, and Smalltalk that guided the design of the Common Language Runtime (CLR), and the design of the CLR, in turn guided the design of C-Sharp.
In 1999, when Anders Hejlsberg formed a team to create the language, they originally planned to call it COOL, which stood for C-like Object Oriented Language. However, there were copyright problems with that name, and it was renamed C#. In music, C-Sharp means a half of a pitch higher, and, in programming, C-Sharp indicates that it eveolved out of C++.
