You HEARD It HERE First!!!

The late-great Hunter S. Thompson once said, "There's a few ounces of truth in every pound of fiction I throw out there".   I couldn't agree more.  For the few folks who bothered to read the blog I posted the other day,  I hope you enjoyed it.  I also hope you heeded the advice and bet on the Arizona Cardinals with the spread,  just as it was rumored President Obama did.   I did (in a TOTALLY LEGAL way!)  and hit the jackpot!  For those of you who missed it,  I will now repost the blog.  For those of you who read it and won,  just remember,  YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!  ---   The President Picks Pittsburgh???

It was recently revealed to the public that President Obama has predicted the Pittsburgh Steelers to win the Super Bowl.  But rumor has it that the President has laid his bet on the Arizona Cardinals and the spread, 7 points.   Sure, President Obama hasn't mislead the people with his prediction,  but a friend of a friend of a senior advisor has the President putting his wager on the spread.      To me,  this wouldn't be the first time a President has somehow influenced a sporting event or wager.   It's been happening ever since President Washington bet the troops he could throw a silver dollar across the Potomac River.   A bet he cleaned up on!  Presidents like Filmore,  Grant,  and Arthur won many a dollar on various 'inside'  bets.   But Presidential wagering really came into it's own with the growth of professional sports.   It's said that Nixon,  while President, picked every Super Bowl 'point spread' winner throughout his terms.  President Nixon, a former college football player,  could really smell the scent of the point spread.  And who can deny the fact that The Boston Red Sox won not one, but two World Series titles durring President George W. Bush's terms.  Now, we all know that President Bush was not only a baseball man, but a MLB owner of The Texas Rangers at one time.   And a team like the Red Sox, who hadn't one a title in 86 years,  wins in both of President Bush's 2 terms?   I heard a rumor back then that 'W"  had bet them heavy!              So,  lets see if I'm right.   On Monday,  check the score of the Super Bowl.  And don't be surprised if Pittsburgh wins by 6 or less!!!
