Digital killed the Kodachrome star.  Today The Eastman Kodak Co. has announced it's retiring the most popular camera film ever made.  Kodachrome film, an icon for Kodak will be no more.  Another 50' & 60's babyboomer product will hit the grave.  Ah, the memories that Kodachrome gave us. With out it, we would have never been able to view awesome photos and magazine covers in such brilliant and vibrant colors.......................I feel myself getting alittle nostalgic (and showing my years).  Anyone who's ever seen the Abe Zapruder's film of President John F. Kennedy being assassinated knows the importance of that little piece of 8mm film. But did you realize that was shot on Kodachrome?  Yes, Kodachrome, the film not only used by amature photogs like Abe, but professionals alike. The covers of many rags from the 60's thru the 90's, until digital hit it's stride, we're shot with Kodachrome.  I would venture to say that all of my childhood photos along with my family we're done with the Kodak phenom................. Vietnam, Watergate, hostage takings, unrest in Iran.  My, how things really don't change, just the people and places do.  But you could escape just for awhile, with your Nikon camera, Kodachrome film, and some Paul Simon.  Listening to the song now takes me back.  The Original Saturday Night Live, NBC's Saturday Baseball Game of the Week with Joe Garagiola ( at that time you only had one chance a week to see a game and that was it).  Even the movie The Coneheads milked that song, I wonder if it was filmed using Kodachrome?.............................Time moves on though. Computer technology, digital cameras and filming have taken over.  For the best I suppose, in life you have to keep moving forward.  Now the only song I'll think of when I hear the word Kodachrome will be TAPS!!!!                  06/22/09
