World Series game 1 is in the books, and the Philadelphia Phillies lead the series 1-0. Now, as a Red Sox fan, I couldn't be more delighted.  But there's my 76 year old mother-in-law to consider.  She's been a 'die hard' Yankee fan since Joe Dimaggio graced the pin stripes.  And let me tell ya, for an old church going girl, she sure can curse like a longshoreman when the Yankees don't win.  Not that I don't get a kick out of that too, but last night I thought she might just 'stroke-out' at the Yankees loss!

So, to put my amusement aside, and hope for my dear old mother-in-laws health, tonight I HAVE to root for the Yankees!  Damn Yankees!  Not only are they in the series, it might just kill ME to cheer them on!  Most of the time you hear the fans of their opponents cry out Damn Yankees, as their team looses.  Last night was different.  Especially in the 9th inning, when the Bronx Bombers made a slight run.  But 3 outs came soon enough, and throughout my quaint neighborhood, all could hear the screaching screams of 'Moms'.  Damn Yankees, DAMN YANKEES, damnit, Damnit, DAMNIT! I had a hold on the telephone, ready to speed dial 911 for Mom's ambulance.

Now, non of my neighbors want to go through that again tonight.  So, I'm trying to resolve myself to cheer them on.  It'll be tought for me though. DAMN YANKEES!     10/29/09
